PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Treatments

Michael Nagy MD, FACS in Wall Township, NJ is excited to now offer the latest advancement in aesthetic medicine. The power of your own body’s restorative abilities utilizing Platelet Rich Plasma (or PRP). There has been quite a bit of buzz about PRP in recent months in cosmetic applications, interestingly though, PRP has been used in other fields of medicine for quite some time now.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is obtained by performing a simple blood draw on the patient. Then, the blood is processed here in our Wall, NJ office to harvest the platelets from the other blood components. That final product is used during a treatment or procedure to enhance the healing and restorative properties of the skin and tissues. The power of PRP, sometimes called “Liquid Gold,” has been demonstrated to contain a large amount of natural growth factors which stimulate cellular regeneration and healing.

There are many applications of PRP in the field of aesthetics, and here at Plastic Surgery of the Face & Body in Wall, NJ we are able to give our patients the opportunity to utilize their own body’s healing properties to complement their cosmetic treatment or procedure.

Dr. Nagy is the best at what he does! He has a wonderful bedside manner and was extremely awesome with all of my questions. I’m a little over one week post op and already so incredibly happy with my results. The office is impeccable and beautiful. The staff is friendly and always helpful. Big shout out to Kim, she went above and beyond - from being reassuring, caring, friendly and so so patient with insane amounts of nerves and questions that I had. She’s the best! From consult to post op, they are a phenomenal team that I would highly recommend.

How Does PRP Work?

Blood is made up of two components: the cellular portion which includes red and white blood cells and platelets, and the liquid portion, called plasma. Platelets are important in the clotting of blood, however, platelets also contain hundreds of proteins called growth factors which are very important in the healing of injuries. Through special processing of the blood we are able to concentrate those platelets (and growth factors) to create platelet rich plasma (PRP). This preparation is then used during the treatment to accelerate the healing and regeneration process.

This in-office, non-invasive treatment begins with a blood draw, followed by the processing and concentrating of the PRP. The PRP is then used in conjunction with your treatment.

In What Procedures Or Treatments Can PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Be Used?

PRP can be utilized in the treatment of aging skin, hair restoration, scars and sexual function. One of the most popular uses of PRP in aesthetics has been in microneedling treatments. Here the PRP is applied during the microneedling procedure, infusing the skin with the patient’s own growth factors to accelerate and stimulate collagen regeneration. PRP treatments can be used on all skin types and tones.

At Plastic Surgery of the Face & Body in Wall, NJ we offer the following treatments with PRP:

  • PRP Facial (microneedling with PRP)

  • Hair Restoration

  • Scar Rejuvenation

Please feel free to call us for additional information about any of the procedures we offer with PRP. We are here to help!
