Conveniently located to serve Monmouth County, and all of New Jersey, including Toms River, Freehold, and the Middletown area.

More and more patients are seeking non-surgical solutions for common issues related to aging, such as sagging skin and wrinkles. In an effort to continually provide patients with what they are looking for, we are consistently exploring the newest technologies and treatments available to offer patients to help them meet their aesthetic goals. Dr. Michael Nagy of Plastic Surgery of the Face & Body in Wall, NJ is excited to now offer MEDiTHREADs, a non-invasive quick treatment for loose and sagging skin. MEDiTHREADs offer an innovative new way to help minimize and soften the effects of aging, providing a natural result with little or no downtime.

Traditionally, patients seeking a lift for the face to address sagging or loose skin would look to a plastic surgeon for a facelift, as there were not many effective non-surgical options available. That has changed with MEDiTHREADs. Dr. Michael Nagy in his Wall, NJ office can now offer patients desiring a facelift the option of a PDO thread lift using MEDiTHREADs- especially for those in need of minimal to moderate skin rejuvenation. This non-surgical option can lift and contour the skin, providing the patient with a more refreshed, youthful appearance.

Restoring The V-Shape

A beautiful and healthy face has a “V-shape”. With the aging of tissues and the action of gravity, this “V-shape” diminishes or inverts. The idea behind the PDO thread lift is to either to create a scaffolding in order to support the tissues and keep them in the “V-shape” or where necessary to delicately lift the tissues and reposition the skin to recreate the “V-shape” where it’s been lost.

Although MEDiTHREADs can be inserted almost anywhere, even in the body, one area where they are especially effective is the neck and jawline. The lower third of the face is challenging to treat effectively with botulinum toxin or injectable fillers, which are most effective in the upper and middle third of the face, respectively. MEDiTHREADS has been a game-changer in effective treatment for the lower third of the face.

What Are MEDiTHREADs And How Do They Work?

MEDiTHREADs are hypodermic needles preloaded with a synthetic PDO absorbable suture. PDO (polydioxanone) sutures are surgical sutures that are used frequently in cardiac surgery. All sutures are FDA-approved and PDO sutures are one of the safest materials that can be used in the body. The threads are placed just beneath the surface of the skin to immediately lift, tighten and sculpt while stimulating natural collagen production and hydration within 30 days. Your skin will fully absorb the MEDiTHREADs within 4 to 6 months without leaving any scar tissue.

Thread Lift for Sagging Skin and Wrinkles

Virtually any area of the body can be treated with PDO threads, including:

  • Cheeks, upper and lower
  • Neck
  • Jawline
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Crow’s feet
  • Under eye area
  • Lips
  • Eyelids
  • Buttocks
  • Thighs
  • Hips
  • Knees
  • Armpits
  • Abdomen
  • Hands

While the threads are underneath the skin, your skin gently reacts to the thread by creating a “selective inflammatory response” to produce collagen to create a longer-lasting result. This principle is behind many aesthetic procedures (such as fractioned lasers, chemical peels and microneedling). Our skin is excellent at repairing itself, and by inserting the MEDiTHREADs underneath the skin to lift the loose skin, the skin will heal itself by creating new collagen naturally! Utilizing your own body’s healing response has its benefits – a subtle, natural looking result can be expected.

Benefits of A Thread Lift Include:

  • It’s non-invasive
  • Quick treatments and recovery
  • Instant lifting results-no downtime
  • Can be performed on both face and body
  • Hypoallergenic and safe to use
  • No scarring
  • Results last 9-12 months

What Can I Expect During My Treatment With MEDiTHREADs?

Before your treatment, for comfort your skin will be numbed with a topical or a local anesthetic. The treatment area will then be marked for suture placement. The threads will be inserted under the skin using a small, hollow needle. This inserted thread will “grab” and lift the sagging or drooping skin, giving a lifting effect or appearance. Once the thread is properly placed and secured, the hollow needle will be removed without leaving any scars. Depending on the treatment plan of the patient, multiple threads may be placed. The entire procedure may take only 30 minutes, depending on the area that is being treated and the number of threads to be used. The PDO threads will remain under the skin-and will eventually be absorbed by the body over time, typically in about 4-6 months. Most patients can return to normal activity the next day. Minor bruising, soreness and swelling may occur, which is normal.

Who Is A Good Candidate For A Thread Lift?

MEDiTHREADs are considered safe by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), and can be used for most patients. During your consultation with Dr. Michael Nagy, he will evaluate your skin and discuss with you whether MEDiTHREADS would be an acceptable treatment option for you. This new and exciting technique can also be combined with other cosmetic procedures such as injectables, laser skin treatments, Ultherapy and microneedling.

Implant Recall 2019

As reported in the news, textured breast implants have been associated with a rare type of lymphoma (cancer of the immune system) called Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). This lymphoma is so rare that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not recommend that textured implants be removed or replaced in those without symptoms of BIA-ALCL.
