Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the U.S. and one of our most popular services in Wall, Toms River, and Freehold area. Breast augmentation in Monmouth County can give women with small or unevenly sized breasts a fuller, firmer, better-proportioned look through the placement of saline or silicone breast implants.

Our patients elect to undergo this form of breast enhancement for many different medical and aesthetic reasons, including balancing breast size, compensating for reduced breast mass after pregnancy or surgery, and correcting a congenital breast defect.

Under Dr. Nagy’s expert care, patients enjoy great-looking, natural-feeling breast implants that are one or more cup sizes larger after the operation. These breast augmentations are performed at our Toms River or Freehold surgicenters. View our breast augmentation before and after photos to see results for past patients.

Fully Customized Breast Enhancement

We know that every woman is unique in both her desires and her body shape. With that in mind, we take the time during the pre-operative consultations to learn what each patient hopes to gain from breast augmentation and breast implants and deciding what is best for each patient. In this way, every one of our patients enjoys completely customized breast augmentation designed with her specific goals in mind.

Complementary Procedures

Breast augmentation can achieve dramatic and beautiful results on its own as well as in conjunction with other cosmetic surgery or non-invasive procedures. We sometimes recommend combining breast augmentation with other procedures such as a breast lift for more satisfying results.

This combination is referred to as a breast augmentation with lift, or augmentation mastopexy. Getting a breast lift and implants results in greater volume, perkiness, and projection without sag or asymmetry. It also only requires a single recovery period. In cases where only a reduction in sagging is needed, a breast lift without implants is often the best solution.

Saline and Silicone Gel Breast Implants

Breast implants are silicone shells filled with either saline (salt water) or silicone gel. Both implant types are very safe, and each offers its own advantages. We will help you decide which kind is right for you. During surgery, we will place the implants behind each breast, underneath either breast tissue or the chest wall muscle.

After many years, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved silicone breast implants for breast enlargement surgery. We are proud to offer patients the option of silicone gel-filled breast implants, since they are much softer and feel more natural than saline-filled breast implants.

Gummy Bear Implants

One of the most popular choices is the gummy bear implant from Allergan. This form-stable implant is filled with a highly cohesive silicone gel. Cohesive-gel implants come with a number of benefits. Aside from having a very natural feel and appearance, gummy bear implants do not leak when ruptured. Instead, the gel retains its shape and stays within the implant shell. This allows for easier implant removal and replacement in the case of a rupture.

Other Implant Characteristics

Along with implant type, patients can choose many other characteristics of their implants in order to find the best breast implants to suit their desires. Round and anatomical, or teardrop-shaped implants, are available and affect the appearance of the breasts. Low, moderate, and high profile breast implants are available and also affect appearance. Additionally, smooth and textured implants are available and affect risk factors for various complications.

Size is also a factor. Patients regularly choose sizes ranging from small breast implants to large breast implants and anything in between. During a consultation, patients can try on sizers to help them decide on the right size for their frame.

Breast Augmentation Surgery – Incision Techniques

The breast augmentation procedure lasts one to two hours and is typically performed with general anesthesia. Incisions are made in inconspicuous places on the breast to minimize scar visibility. These may be located:

  • In the armpit (transaxillary),
  • In the crease on the underside of the breast (inframammary), or
  • Around the areola, the dark skin around the nipple (periareolar).

The breast is then lifted, creating a pocket into which the implant is inserted.

“I am a proud mother of two beautiful children, one of which I breastfed for 13 months. During that time I had gone from a 34b to a 36dd and back down to a b again. I felt unattractive, used up and like I would never feel like a sexy woman again. Thanks to Dr. Nagy and his wonderful and informative staff I had my surgery and although I am only a little over a week out I feel and look great. My body is once again my own. I feel fabulous….. my husband doesn’t hate it either 😉 I was not only put at complete ease by Dr. Nagy and his team, he also delivered incredible results I couldn’t thank him enough” Vitals

Breast Augmentation Surgery – Placement Options

Implant placement beneath the muscle of the chest offers a few advantages over placement beneath the breast tissue only. These include reduced risk of capsular contracture (post-operative tightening around the implant) and less interference with mammogram examinations. Possible disadvantages include need for drainage tubes and elevated pain in the first few days following surgery. We will discuss which option may be best for you.

After the implants have been inserted and positioned beneath the nipples, the incisions are stitched closed, then taped and bandaged. In a few days, these bandages may be replaced with a surgical bra.

Recovery

Most patients feel tired and sore after breast augmentation surgery, but this usually passes in a day or two. Many patients return to work within the week.

Stitches are removed in a week to 10 days after breast augmentation. Any post-operative pain, swelling and sensitivity will diminish over the first few weeks.

Scars from breast augmentation incisions will begin to fade in a few months and will continue to fade for months or years.

Complications following breast augmentation surgery are uncommon and usually minimal. They may include capsular contracture, swelling and pain, infection around the implant, a change in nipple sensation, milk production if you nursed a baby within a year before the procedure, and breakage or leakage of the implant (implant rupture) as a result of injury or the normal compression and movement of your breast.

If a saline implant ruptures, the implant will simply deflate in a few hours and your body will absorb the salt water. If a silicone implant leaks, you will need to see a doctor immediately. Regular monitoring of breast implants after breast augmentation is recommended to ensure continuing breast and implant health.

Breast Augmentation Cost

When considering breast enlargement surgery, it is important to understand the cost beforehand. The factors that go into determining the price of a breast augmentation include breast implant cost, the techniques involved, the type of anesthesia chosen, and the amount of time the surgical session takes.

Implant Recall 2019

As reported in the news, textured breast implants have been associated with a rare type of lymphoma (cancer of the immune system) called Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). This lymphoma is so rare that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not recommend that textured implants be removed or replaced in those without symptoms of BIA-ALCL.
