As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Nagy finds breast reconstruction to be one of the most rewarding procedures for both himself and his patients. Breast reconstruction restores a natural, symmetrical appearance to the bosom, maintains body proportion, and simply allows clothes to fit better. Reconstructive surgeons strive to create a new breast and nipple that resemble the woman’s natural breast as closely as possible in shape, size and position.
Being very involved in breast reconstruction awareness, specifically for breast cancer survivors, gives Dr. Nagy the opportunity to help boost self-confidence in women who have lost one or both breasts to mastectomy. He and his staff look forward to celebrating National Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day, or BRA Day USA, which takes place on October 17th, 2012.
BRA Day is an initiative designed to promote education, awareness and access regarding post-mastectomy breast reconstruction. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the American Society of Plastic Surgeon, The Plastic Surgery Foundation, plastic surgeons specializing in breast surgery, nurse navigators, medical device industry representatives and breast cancer support groups. These and other organizations, breast cancer patients, their families and friends coordinate events on BRA Day USA that include question and answer sessions, lectures, flash mobs, fundraising parties, advertising campaigns and community events.
